Transport Biofuel

Õ          Green Spirit Fuels – bioethanol development

In 2005 HFH Management’s Arthur Llewellyn led the spin-out of Green Spirit Fuels, the UK’s leading bioethanol development company, and its subsequent development financing by Credit Suisse and Tudor Capital.  Arthur then joined the company as Finance Director, negotiating the necessary offtake, engineering and construction contracts for the first plant, and the development of opportunities for the second and subsequent plants. HSBC was appointed in September 2006 as lead arranger to Wessex Biofuels for the project debt, and an equity offer was put forward. Green Spirit Fuels was thus positioned to become Europe’s first project financed bioethanol production plant.

Owen Yeatman, a director of Wessex Grain and Acting Chairman of Green Spirit Fuels, said in February 2007 “We were pleased to appoint Arthur to help take our plans for a single plant in Somerset and turn them into a multi-plant strategy to attract the funding for the larger business as the leading bioethanol development company in the UK. His understanding of the business, and his ability to open doors and engage major players, then look after the contractual issues, has been a great asset.”
